Voluntary Programs

Program Overview

The suite of exclusive Voluntary Benefits and services was created for SCSEBA districts as a way of augmenting their current benefit program, obtaining premium value and reducing the number of voluntary carriers that a district must work with. The programs and services can be offered through SOBA, the SCSEBA Online Benefits Access online enrollment program and are meant to simplify and streamline the existing process of offering employees voluntary benefits by allowing districts.

American Fidelity Summary of Voluntary Benefits

Voluntary Long-term Disability CE/MGMT/CL Vol LTD (15 plan designs 1yr, 2yr or age 65)

  • Premium is 100% employee paid
  • Designed to replace income if employee is disabled more than 90 days. Starts on 8th day
  • Coverage is "portable" meaning the employee can take it with them. If remain with schools
  • Employees can choose the amount of replacement income they receive/premium they pay up to a maximum of 60% of Salary or $5k per month. 75% for first 2 years & then reduces to 66 2/3 to age 65
  • Full-time and Part-time employees are eligible

Permanent Life Insurance Texas Life Permanent Life

  • Surveys show that most employees do not have any form of life insurance outside what their employer provides
  • Providing life insurance through payroll deductions allows employees to easily. purchase permanent, portable coverage that can remain in effect their whole lives
  • Premiums are level and permanent
  • Plans can be purchased for spouses, children, and grandchildren
  • Limited underwriting means employees with medical conditions can receive coverage at same rates as other employees
  • Renewable to age 110
  • Guaranteed premium protection: If Texas Life has rate increase in CA, Texas Life will reimburse 5 years premium

Accident and Critical Illness Accident Enhanced, & Accident Enhanced Plus

  • Coverage provides lump sum payment directly to insured if they suffer covered accident or Illness
  • Money can be used any way insured sees fit
  • Can be a great way to offset cost of co-payments or co-insurance for those employees purchasing mini-med plans
  • Plan can cover Families as well as individual employees Purchasing these plans through SCSEBA provides employees a product with SCSEBA's stamp of approval, added discounts, online enrollment and the convenience of payroll deductions
